Violinist Philip Kashap grew up near Boston and San Francisco, and attended Yale University where he received his BA and MM in Music. He has taught violin full-time for over 35 years, and played professionally for over 40 years as a chamber musician and violinist in many orchestras and touring groups.
Philip moved to Huntsville in 2012 to take over as Artistic Director of the Huntsville Suzuki School. Before that, he and his family spent 26 years in Saskatoon where he taught at the University of Saskatchewan, and was a teacher and later the director of the Saskatoon Suzuki String Program. He and his wife Martha both played in the Saskatoon Symphony. They raised five musical children in their years in Saskatchewan.Philip has 35 years' experience using the Suzuki Method, and is SAA certified in Levels 1 through 10. He was also one of the first North American Suzuki students himself! He enjoys using this method and teaches the complete Suzuki violin repertoire as well as all levels of the Royal Conservatory Violin Syllabus. He has taught students from 3 to 80 years old, from beginners to professionals. Though primarily a classical violinist, he enjoys a wide range of styles. Known as a patient, kind and meticulous teacher, Mr. Kashap welcomes students of all levels who wish to have fun while achieving their personal best.
Albert Kashap
Guitar Instructor
Albert Kashap is a classically trained guitarist who began his studies with Ben Schenstead in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He has performed in the master classes of some of the most famous classical guitarists, including Martha Masters and Scott Tenant of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He has given many live concerts, performed on television, and appeared as soloist with orchestra in Vivaldi's Concerto in D.
Albert was the recipient of the Peter Stoicheff Guitar Prize at the Saskatoon Music Festival, and holds a Grade 8 Certificate in Classical Guitar from the Royal Conservatory of Music. He plays a large repertoire of classical guitar music (especially Spanish classical guitar), but also enjoys blues, jazz, classic rock, the Beatles, reggae, and modern hip hop. He often entertains guests at events around Muskoka.
Albert is certified in SAA Levels 1 and 2 by the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and has been teaching guitar for nine years.
